Day 35 (my head in the clouds; Pikes Peak and Monarch Pass)

i'll try and keep this one short (it is in the am on thurs and i need to get on the road!)...

left Denver on a cloudy, overcast day (headed towards Pike's Peak and Monarch Pass)... i KNEW rain was in my future... when i got closer to PP i stopped and put on ALL rain and cold weather gear that i had... glad i did!!! but i was a little "over heated" when it was all said and done...

well, i could explain how the trip up to PP went, but the pics will tell the words.... i did (at one point) almost turn around saying... the HECK with this!!! (it was pretty bad at one point), but i got a sense that there was not much more left (i was right).... anyway, after PP i headed off to Monarch Pass (and cont. divide)...

ok, now for pics....
( WARNING - viewer discretion is advised; mothers and wives may NOT want to see these)

-----------------------
- Pikes Peak in the back ground
- at ~11k feet, yes... that is a dirt road!
- we CLAIM CO under fog and light snow at the top of P.P.
- just a photo op (could NOT come here without getting this pic); yes, that is snow falling!
- it would not have been fair if i did not get HIS picture as well...
- the view on the way down (yes, those are ice crystals on my wind screen!)

- just looking across the valley

- ice on wind screen, dirt under my wheels, pavement just beyond... i MADE IT DOWN off the peak!
- a nice veiw of the pavement the is below!

- i offically have my head in the clouds (well, above them)!

- back down to a more reasonable elevation!

- gassing up and heading to Monarch Pass (bye PP)

- some nice green mounts in CO

- a view of my mirror

-what a view of CO!

- i keep finding these long an dlonely roads!

- just another view from M. pass

- more wildlife

- just some mounts..

- heading towards monarch pass

- reached it! (various pics)

- how fitting, the sun comes out at monarch pass and the image # clicks to 2112! (did not know it at the time)
